Kundpaur Varado Welfare Association, Kuwait (KVWA Kuwait)
Kundapur Varado Welfare Committee (KVWC) Kuwait was formed in October 2002 under the guidance of V.Rev.Fr. J.B. Crasta, Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Church, Kundapur. Kundapur Varado Welfare Committee consists of eleven parishes from the Kundapur Varado namely Kundapur, Pius Nagar, Basrur, Tallur, Gangolli, Padukone, Trasi, Byndoor, Kota, Sastan and Belve has been formed with an aim to help the needy children hailing from the Kundapur Varado towards their basic education.
During the first year itself the Kundapur Varado Welfare Committee raised an amount of Rupees 500,000/- with the help from generous community in Kuwait towards the St.Mary’s High School, Junior College Building Project in Kundapur for their Computer Lab.
As the committee expanded there was a need to change to Kundapur Varado Welfare Committee in to Kundapur Varado Welfare Association to accommodate growing number of members. Association started focusing on the educational needs of underprivileged children from the Member parishes. By March 2005 KVWA has remitted about Rupees 42,197/- towards this noble cause.
KVWA has celebrated IST annual feast on November 26th, 2003. IInd Annual Kundapur Varado feast was celebrated under the guidance and leadership of current President Mrs. Nancy Menezes on November 11, 2004 and 2005.
Under the able leadership of President Mrs. Nancy Menezes and its committee members, KVWA became the member of KUWAIT CANARA KONKAN COMMUNITY, a Manglorean Association in Kuwait which represents Konkan community in Kuwait hailing from different parts of canara region under one banner i.e. KUWAIT CANARA KONKAN COMMUNITY working towards a common goal.
KVWA participated in the “KONKAN UTSAV 2004” on September 29th, 2004. A play called ‘SORGAR JAII PODLYATH” was enacted during this Utsav which was written by our KVWA member David Lewis and directed by Mr. Henry Lewis.
On February 4th, 2005 President Nancy Menezes was selected as the Chairperson of KUWAIT CANARA KONKAN COMMUNITY and Mr. Henry Lewis was selected as General Secretary.
September 16th, 2005 , KVWA had organized a Family Picnic, with the help from other Six Associations of Kuwait which represent different areas of Canara region, which was enjoyed by the vast number of Mangloreans residing in Kuwait.
At present KVWA has also become the member of the ‘UNITED ASSOCIATION OF KARANATAKA – KUWAIT’ which is currently working towards the cause of having an International Airport in Mangalore in order to help the mangalorean community of the Middle East.
