Keeping the tradition alive , Karaval Milan is all set to give a quality programme this year too.Karaval Milan has organized a Cultural day Programme “Karavalichin Lharan”at Indian Sports Club , Dubai on October 09,2009  from 11 am to 4.30 pm.

 

It will be a memorable entertainment day for the people of Karaval Region as Karaval Milan members under the dynamic leadership of Vibrant Eric D Souza are all geared up  to exhibit their multiple talents. This programme is consists of Songs , Dance , Skits and various entertainment events.

Udupi: City’s Leading Sand Artists Create Sun Temple at Malpe Beach - 9/30/2009

Udupi, Sep 29: The artists of Manipal Sand Art and city -ased Artists’ Forum created a sand sculpture of the Sun temple of Konark at Malpe beach here on Sunday September 27 to mark the World Tourism Day. 



The sculpture created by artists Srinath Manipal, Venky Palimar and Ravi Hirebettu impressed a large number of people aho frequented the beach on the day. Sculptors said that it was aimed to create general awareness on the importance of tourism and the significance of World Tourism Day celebrations. 



 
The sculpture was sponsored by city-based Cox and Kings.


Udupi: Signature Campaign for ‘Vishwa Mangala Go Yatra’ Begins - 9/30/2009

Udupi, Sep 30:  K P Acharya, honorary president of Sri Hosa Marigudi temple committee, inaugurated the signature campaign for the ‘Vishwa Mangala Go Yatra’ in Kaup, near here, on Monday September 28.



Addressing the gathering, he said that the Yatra was being organized to create awareness on conserving villages, to encourage organic farming, to make use of cattle waste, to create awareness about the plastic menace, and to restore underground water aquifers.



 
Acharya urged the people to extend their support to the Yatra on the occasion. Y Prafulla Shetty, managing trustee of Sri Vishwanath Temple, Yellur, was the chief guest.
 
Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, KMF former president Kaup Divakar Shetty, Dharani Samaj Seva president Leeladar Shetty, Ganeshotsav committee president Ramesh Mendon, TP member Jagdish Acharya, Kaup BJP president Ravindra Shetty Kollabettu, and heads of various village committees under Kaup were present on the occasion.
 



Committee president Nadikere Ratnakar Shetty welcomed.  Convener Kutyar Prasad Shetty delivered the introductory address.  Shantaram Prabhu proposed the vote of thanks while Radhakrishna Prabhu compered the programme.

Mangalore:Fr Dr Peter Theodore D’Souza(Ex Principal of Milagres College, Kallinapur) to heavenly abode - 9/29/2009

Mangalore :  Fr Peter Theodore D’Souza (83 years) a priest of the Diocese of Mangalore went to eternal abode after a short sickness on the morning of 26th of September 2009. Being a Catholic priest for the last 55 years, he is the first priest from Kolalgiri. Born on 18-9-1926 at Kolalgiri he was ordained on 16-11-1954. 



After being Assistant Parish Priest at Kulshekar for 2 years he went to Rome for higher studies. Having achieved doctoral degree in Sacred Theology in Rome, he went to London for academic studies. First he had his B.A. Honours in English literature from Cambridge University of England. Then he proceeded to the United States of America and secured Doctorate in English literature from famous Fordham University of America.

After the higher studies he taught as Professor for more than a decade in Fordham University. After returning to Mangalore he lectured at Milagres college of Kallianpur. Later he served as Principle of Milagres College, Kallianpur for more than a decade.

Simultaneously he served the Church of Mangalore as the Parish Priest of Mount Rosary Church of Kallianpur. He has also served in different academic capacities as Professor and Head of Chair in Christianity of Mangalore University as well as lectured at St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore. He has served the parishes of Derebail, Udupi and Permude as Parish Priest. He has also served as Chaplain in the religious institutions of S.R.A. Sisters at Vamanjoor and Bethany Sisters at Gurpur.

After his retirement he resided at ‘Vianney Home’ at Kankanady, the senior priests’ house of the Diocese of Mangalore.

Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore and Msgr Denis Prabhu, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Mangalore have expressed sadness at his demise and have said that with his death we have lost a good academician, philosopher, counselor and educator.

The funeral mass and final rites of Fr Peter Theodore D’Souza will be held at Valencia Church on 30th September 2009, Wednesday at 10 a.m.
