Kundapur: New Head Office Building of Rosary Credit Society Inaugurated - 7/27/2008
Vinaya Pais, Kundapur for KMKundapur, Jul 28: The newly-bulit head office of Rosary credit co-operative society, located on Kundeshwar temple road, was inaugurated by Fr Antony B Lobo, on Sunday, July 27.
Speaking afterwards, Fr Lobo said the credit society had been successful in winning the confidence of its share holders, had assisted farmers in reaping profits, and efficiently managed the financial portfolio since its inception. The direction of the administrative committee coupled with a duty consciousness of the staff had greatly helped the society in its march towards progress and popularity, he added.
Fr Lobo pointed out that the advanced science and technology should help provide better service to the customers in general and the shareholders in particular. M Basappa, district co-operative officer, inaugurated the safe deposit vault. He said that sincerity and earnestness in paying back loans should go hand in hand.
Fr Alban D’Souza, deanery vicar, Kundapur, blessed the new premises and conveyed best wishes to the society in its venture. Raju Devadiga, president, Kundapur taluk panchayat, and Kumari Poornima, assistant register of the co-operative societies, also conveyed their best wishes on the occasion.
Mohandas Shenoy, president, Kundapur municipality, Sathish Shetty, president, standing committee, Geetha, municipal councilor, Rock John Carvallo, Cyprian Menezes, Joseph Fernandes, and Henry Diaz, were present on the dais. A J Bothello, president, Rosary society, presided over the function. Building contractor Joy Rebello, and engineer Danny Pinto of Udupi, were felicitated on behalf of the society.
Philip D’ Costa welcomed the gathering. Vinay A Pais, vice-president of the society, delivered the introductory address. Pascal D’ Souza, secretary, presented the annual report. L J Fernandes and Felix D’ Silva compered the program. Nathalie D’ Souza proposed the vote of thanks.

Kundapur: Farmers in Dire Need of Information - ZP President Raju Poojary - 7/27/2008
Vinaya Pais, Kundapur for KMKundapur, Jul 27: The Pro-farmer programmes launched by the government do not reach our farming community. Informative workshops are therefore planned both at taluk and village level, said Raju Poojary, president, Udupi zilla panchayat, recently.
He was presiding over a workshop held for disseminating information to farmers. Poojary conveyed that similar workshops would be held once in two months at taluk level for the benefits of the farming community. The co-operative department of the government, being a very close active participant of the latter, is going to play a pivotal role in the lives of our farmers, he said.
Sujatha Vaudeva, vice-president, Udupi zilla panchayat, inaugurated the workshop.
Janardhana Tonse, president, standing committee for agriculture and industries, Udupi zilla panchayat, also spoke on the occasion.
Among those present on the podium were S Dinakara Shetty, president, land development bank, Geetha, vice-president, taluk panchayat, Dr Nanda, director, department of horticulture, Basappa, S M Gadhad, joint director, department of agriculture, Dr M K Honnabhyraiah, scientist, Brahmavar agricultural centre, and Sahana Hegde, director, department of horticulture, Kundapur. Ramadas Rai, assistant director, agricultural department, Kundapur, welcomed the gathering while K S Naik, of the same department, monitored the function.

Kundapur: Hearty Felicitation to Tholar on 90th Birthday - 7/26/2008
Vinaya Pais, Kundapur for KMKundapur, Jul 27: Industrialist and social worker Samuel Prabhaker Tholar, was warmly felicitated by the people of Kundapur on the occasion of his ninetieth birthday on Friday, July 25.
The event was held at Bhandarkar’s College and K K Pai, chairman, Manipal academy of general education, felicitated the Tholar couple on behalf of the gathering. Dr Shantharam, administrator, Manipal academy of general education, was also present on the occasion.
S Narayana Rao, principal of the College, welcomed the gathering while Rajendra gave the vote of thanks. Rekha Bannadi conducted the programme.

Hither to the people were constrained to visit Manipal Hospital for ENT related ailments. Now with the efforts of the Medical Officers Dr. Udaya Kumar and Dr. Robert these sophisticated machines have come as a boon especially to the patients among the poor. Ear-related ailments could be diagnosed effortlessly with the help of Audio-metry through sound waves it produces.
The Microscope endoscopies, if kept in ear or in mouth would instantly transmit pictures on the computer screen and the patients undergo no pain what so ever. With these new gadgets the maternity ward of the hospital gifted by the Philanthropist G. Shanker and managed by experts, the image of the Hospital is being enhanced in the estimate of the general public.

Kundapur: New H.O Building for Rosary Credit Co-op Society is ready for inauguration - 7/23/2008
Vinaya Pais, Kundapur for KMKundapur, Jul 23: The head office building of Rosary credit co-operative society, Kundapur, will be inaugurated on Sunday, July 27, at 11 am. The newly-constructed building, located near V K R English Medium School on the Kundeshwara Temple Road, is fully air conditioned and has been equipped with technology at a cost of Rs 18 lac.
The priest of the Suratkal church, Rev Fr Antony Lobo, will perform the inauguration while Rev Fr Alvin D’Souza, priest of Kundapur ward, will bless the occasion. M Basappa, deputy manager, Udupi Zilla co-operative society, will open the safe deposit vault. Raju Devadiga, president, Kundapur Taluk Panchayat, municipal chairman, Mohandas Shenoy, Kumary Poornima K, Sathish Shetty, president standing committee, municipal councilor, Geetha, would be the chief guests of the occasion.
The site measuring about 4,000 sq ft was purchased last year for Rs 13 lac and the new headquarters came up in a year’s time. Since its inception in 1992, the credit society has been earning a profit of Rs 5 lac every year and has declared 15 percent dividends annually.
The founding members of the society include late Alfonso Lobo, late G L D’Lima, late William Pais, Philip D’Costa, and members of the Catholic Sabha, Kundapur ward, who contributed the initial capital. Rev Fr Clifford D’Souza, Rev Fr Stany B Lobo, Rev Fr J B Crasta, and Rev Fr Antony Lobo, are among those who have worked unstintingly for the credit society’s progress over the years.
At present, the society has deposits exceeding Rs 3 crore and the amount lent out is about Rs 2 crore. The existing administrative board has A J Buthello as president and Vinay Pais as vice-president. Felix Dais, Rock John Carvelloh, Syprian Menezes, Nathalian D’Souza and Joseph Fernandes are the other board members. Pascal D’Souza is the chief executive officer and Mabel D’Souza is the manager.
