Dubai: Kemmannu Flowers' Third Anniversary Celebrated - 5/2/2008
daijiworldDubai, May 2: Kemmannu Flowers, an association of parishioners of Kemman residing in the UAE celebrated their third anniversary in Karama hotel with bash. The programme started at 12.15 pm with the introduction by Donny Correa and later with the hymn 'Thuka Navdthalav Somea' sung by the members.
Frank Fernandes, managing director of Mosaco Shipping & Forwarding of and Walter Nandalike, CEO of Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd and Editor-in-chief of www.daijiworld.com and were the chief guests on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Walter said, "One day or the other we have to go to Mangalore to settle. But right now we have lots of opportunities sin our own native. When it comes to Kemman, its is gradually developing into a tourist hot spot as for the first time in the history of coastal tourism, two house boats have been introduced at Hoode backwaters."















Claric D'Souza in her report said that the money which the association had collected had been spent for the education of poor children back home. "We have donated to the newly-built school building and also contributed for the bicycle stand for the children. We are also helping the SVP of our parish, other than contributing our mite to Kolalgiri and Arehalli church. This has been possible only owing to the support and generous heart of our sponsors and well-wishers," she added.
Stany along with his witty team entertained the gathering with rib-tickling skits while Rhythm group provided music for the programme. Ocean Kids were at their usual best with some superlative dance performances.
Association president Rony welcomed the gathering while Donny Correa compered the programme.

Kundapur, Apr 28: Hotel Julie-Yo International was inaugurated by Fr Antony Lobo, parish priest of Kundapur Varado at Ankadekatte near here on April 27.
Speaking on the occasion he said that Ankadakatte a little know neighborhood of the city has been blessed with a well-equipped hotel of international standards. He also said that it is a day to be reckoned with as Hotel Julie-Yo International has made history of sorts in the hotel industry for the simple reason that the proprietors of the hotel namely the Julio couple have dared to venture in to hotel business with an international standard in their own native place when the march of globalization is at a competitive rate.
The chief guest was famous film actor Raghavendra Rajkumar. Addressing the gathering he said it is a great effort made by the Julio-couple is highly commendable. He also recalled the ambition of his father Dr Rajkumar to open hotel chains in Bangalore, which was successfully fulfilled by him. At the programme hotel proprietors Mathew John, Juliet and general manger James D’ Mello were felicitated on behalf of the Koteshwar and Hanglur citizens.
Film actress Anu Prabhakar, taluk panchayath president Raju Devadiga, St Pius Church parish priest Fr Wilfred Gonsalvies, hotel enterpriser V K Mohan, city municipal president Mohan Shenoy, ex-president of city municipality Edwin Crasta, and Dr H Narashimha Murthy were present on the occasion.
Shirley Simaian welcomed the gathering and James D’Mello proposed the vote of thanks.

Dubai: The first event of Milagreans ‘The Milagreans Day out’ was a grand success - 4/25/2008
daijiworldDubai, April 26: The first event of Milagreans ‘The Milagreans Day out’ was a grand success. The program began at 11:30 am at Creek park Dubai with the welcome speech by Flavia Mathias. There were a total of 80 members from Milagres Church and Ex-milagreans from schools and colleges.

The President of Milagreans Gulf Association Dubai (MGAD) explained the gathering the origin, objectives, mission and vision of MGAD. He gave a clear picture of what MGAD is and what it plans to do in the coming days. This associations mission named ‘KUMOKH’-Kallianpurians United Mission offering Knowledge and Help intends to sponsor poor students education back home. It also aims at helping and uniting all the milagreans in the Gulf.








Lot of games were conducted all throughout the day, including team games, spot prizes, housie-housie and couple games. The crowd participated actively and enjoyed the event.
Lunch was severed at 2pm including the mangalorean dessert ‘Vorn’ (paiyasam). The post lunch session comprised of skits by all the teams. The final game of the day was the ‘Tug of War’. The added attraction was the music session by the committee members.
On behalf of all the attendees Melwin Lewis thanked the organising committee and said they would look forward for more events in the future. The day was concluded by prize distribution which were distributed by senior members of MGAD.
Flavia Mathias delivered the vote of thanks and the crowd dispersed at 4:30 pm.

Udupi: Spectacular Five Chariots Mark Hanuman Jyanthi Celebrations - 4/21/2008
daijiworldUdupi, Apr 21: 'Hanuman Jayanthi' in veneration of Hindu god Hanuman was organized here by Sri Krishna Mukhyaprana Seva Samithi at Car Street here on Sunday April 20 night amdist great fanfare, opulence and religious fervour with thousands of devotees thronging here to watch and take part in the festival.
'Five Chariots festival' was celebrated under the aegis of Paryaya Sri Puttige Sri Krishna Math. As part of the glittering function in one of the rarest and momentous occasions in the history of the Sri Krishna temple, throngs of devotees could be seen all over pulling as many as five chariots at a time.




The five chariots included the 'Brahma ratha', 'Belli ratha', 'Garuda ratha', 'Chinnada ratha' and 'Vayu puja ratha' pulled on Car street simultaneously unlike before when only three chariots would be pulled by devotees on rare occasions such as 'Makara Sankranthi' festival.
Various programmes and cultural activities were also organized as part of the Hanuman Jyanthi festivities. Sri Sugunendra Theertha of Putthige Muth inaugurated the programme.
