Kundapur: New school building of Holy Rosario English Primary & High School inaugurated - 2/5/2008

Kundapur, Feb 5: 'Catholic educational institutes have been laying special stress on and paying extra care and attention towards human values-oriented education for students in their schools and colleges,' said bishop of Mangalore Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the new building to house the Holy Rosary English Medium School here.

He further said that the Catholic institutes under the supervision of Catholic board, for the past seventy-five years had left no stone unturned in their mission to provide every possible facility to students.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MP and the director of Syndicate Bank who inaugurated the new building was happy to claim that there had been an educational revolution of sorts in this part of the undivided district and added that it was due to the sacrifice made by the Catholic priests of the district.

Fr J B Crasta, director, St Joseph Workshop, Mangalore was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion he said that the motto of their institute was ‘Saadhya’ (meaning possible), an attitude which leads to success and urged the parents to realize its meaning in the lives of their children.

Fr Prakash, principal of St Mary’s PU College, Helen D’Souza, Celine Carvalho, Jeffrey D’Souza, Diana Almeida, Champa and others were present. Walter D’Souza, building contractor and Deny Pinto, engineer were felicitated on the occasion.

Fr Antony Lobo welcomed the gathering. Sylvester Almeida, president of building committee made an introductory speech. Connie Menezes, headmistress, read out the report. Basil D’Souza vice-president, proposed the vote of thanks. Vinay Pais and Nagaraja Shetty compered the programme.

Dubai, Fab 3: Karaval Milan” unified voice of 19 Coastal Line parishes of Mangalore Diocese is commended by one and all for its numerous services to the society since it’s inception.  Believing in Service through Unity , Karaval Milan has provided quality entertainment to the people  of both UAE and Mangalore for the last 6 years.  Overwhelmed by the support received  from the public, this year Karaval Milan under the leadership of Dynamic Rony Byndoor has decided to give some thing new to cheer to all  its well wishers and supporters.

On 15th February Karaval Milan has organised a One-Day Volley Ball and Throw Ball tournament at Wanderers Club Sharjah. Tournament will be open for All the Kannada Speaking enthusiasts.    Karaval Milan’s president Rony Byndoor has released the Rules and Regulations for the tournament which are as given below :
 
 
KARAVAL MILAN SPORTS MEET 2008 – RULES & REGULATIONS
 
1)      Entry for Teams/Players of Karnataka Origin. Non Kannadigas playing team will be disqualified at any given time of the tournament.
2)      Entry Fees Dhs.250/- per team in each category.
3)      Last date for registration is   10/02/2008 .
4)      Participating teams should  report sharp at 8:00AM on 15th  February, 2008 .
5)      Team Lots will be taken on 12th Feb 2008,   8.00 pm , at Winny’s restaurant . Each team representatives are requested to present  to witness the same.
6)      Maximum 12 teams entry permitted for  both the games,  will be registered upon first come first serve basis.
7)      9 players are allowed to list in Volley ball team including Libero and 12 players  allowed to       list in Throw ball team
8)      All the games will be played on league basis with TENNIS POINTS  as per the new rules.
9)      Participating players must wear Team Uniform with numbers
10)  One player can represent only one team during the tournament.
11)  Referee’s decision is  final. Only Captain can consult the referee for any clarification..
12)   Players are self responsible for any injuries during the tournament. Basic first aid  facilities will be provided  by the organisers
13)   Players are not allowed to participate in the games with the influence of alcohol or any other kind of intoxication.
14)  Teams should be present in the respective courts within the announcement of 3rd call, failing  which the game will be awarded as Walk-over to the opposition team.
 
Most of the Teams which have already engraved their names in the Honours list have already confirmed their Presence.  Rony Byndoor has confirmed that since entry will be on first come first serve basis ,  whichever team registers first they will get the opportunity. Karaval Milan requests all the people of Kannada Origin residing in UAE to participate in this day long event and make this event as memorable one.

Kundapur: Rich Tributes Paid to Blasius D'Souza - 2/2/2008

Kundapur, Feb 2: In remembrance of the service rendered by the late Blasius D’Souza, ex-MLA and ex-minister a condolence meet was organised here recently.

Addressing the condolence meet MLC K Prathapchandra Shetty said that the late Blasius D’Souza was a hard worker and sincere Congress worker.  The void left by his sad demise would remain for long.  Rich tributes were also paid to another Congress worker Korgi Bala Krishna Hegde who worked as president of Balkoor panchayath.

On this occasion Edwin Crasta, Devanada Shetty, Zilla Panchayat members, Udaya Chandra Shetty, Brahmavar Block Congress presiden and, Vinay Pais, ex-Muncipal councilor were present.

Malyadi Shivaram Shetty welcomed the gathering and Samigedy Sanjiva Shetty proposed vote of thanks.


Dubai: Byndoor Catholic Association Celebrates 18th Anniversary - 2/2/2008

Dubai, Feb 2: The Annual general body meeting  and The Election of new committee for the year 2008 and 18th Anniversary ,of Byndoor Catholic Association was celebrated at Winny’s  Restaurant ,Karama on Feb 1, 2008.

The program was presided over by Jenifer Mascarenhas Co-ordinator-SMKC and Urban Sequeira Web Co-ordinator SMKC.

Byndoor Catholic Association formed on 03.11.1989 and the current strength of the association is 62 members. Robert Gras elected as the president and Dinesh Gras is elected the secretary for the year 2008.

Jenifer Mascarenhas in her speech praised the simplicity and humility of the Byndoor parishioners and encouraged that these virtues will always help to serve God.

Urban Sequeira in his speech appreciated various activities of the members for the upliftment of the poor and needy and advised to keep this spirit up.

Around 80 members were gathered for the celebrations. Various cultural and entertainment programs like dance, songs and a konkani comedy skits were played by the members and parishioners.

Rudolph Pereira- Hon. President, Robert Gras –President and Dinesh Gras- Secretary were present on the occasion .

The vote of thanks was proposed by Salvador Nazareth .

The entire program was compared Shaila Gras and Stephen Lobo.

Kundapur, Feb 1: The new school building of Holy Rosario English Primary and High School will be inaugurated on Monday February 4 by former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake.

Bishop of Mangalore Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will preside over the inaugural ceremony and bless the occasion.

Fr J B Crasta, director St Joseph workshop in Mangalore, Gopal Shetty, regional education officer, Celine Carvalho, Helen D’Souza and Jeffrey D’Souza will be the chief guests.

Fr Antony Lobo, correspondent, Basil D’Souza, vice-president, Holy Rosary Church, Diana Almeida, secretary, Sylvester D’Almeida, correspondent of the school building committee and Connie Menezes, headmistress of the school will be present on the occasion.

The school was established by Fr Stany Lobo in the year 1997.
