Eyeopener: Basrur: Anagalli foot bridge is in dangerous condition - 1/30/2008
Vinaya Pais, Kundapur for KMKundapur, Jan 30: The main bridge linking the town and the village Anagally here has been in a state of disrepair for several years, posing a threat to commuters and pedestrians every day.
Built in the year 1987, the 90-metre long and 3-foot wide narrow bridge is the only way for the people and the two and three-wheelers to cross the river bordering the town and Anagally near Basruru. Despite numerous petitions to the authorities concerned no action has been taken yet.
A political party in the course of the election campaign recently held for the town municipality had promised to set right the problem, but after the election no one came forward to fulfil the promise.
In case the bridge collapses people have to take the longer route which extends to more than ten kilometres.
