Kundapur, Oct 15: A Five days “Jeevan Jyothi” camp for the Christian Student of Kundapur Varado began on the 10^th of October at Kunapur in the Auditorium of St. Joseph School.

Inaugurating the camp the Priest of Kundapur Ward Rev. Fr. Antony Lobo said the High School students being in their formative period should derive the maximum benefit from such camps, so that the direction and the advice would stand them in good stead in their future life of creativity.

He further hoped that the Five-day camp would turn out to be becoming light guiding participants to evolve them selves in to men of truth, honesty and integrity. Rev. Fr. Philiph Nery Arahna Asst. Director, Dr. Sony D’Coasta, President, Catholic Sabha of Kundapur Varado, Director Rev. Fr. Richard and other were present on the podium.

The Chief Director Rev. Fr. Stany Pereira welcomed the gathering. Ronald Rodriguez monitored the program.

One Hundred and Fifty Seven Christian students belonging to the conglomeration of Eleven Churches of Kundapura Varado are been participating for this camp to get the benefit.

Uppunda, Oct 15: The National Film Award Winner Girish Kasarvalli had recently been to Uppunda Madikallu on a new film assignment as Director of “Gulabi Talkies”. Uppunda Chandrasheker Holla, President of Udupi District Kannada Sahitya Parishad along with Madana Kumar, Member of Jilla Panchayath flagged off the shooting in the pictures que background of Madikallu beach.

Speaking on the occasion of Muhurtam Chandrashekar Holla said that transforming a literary work in to the celluloid medium was likely to assume a new face. But the globalization should not overtake our efforts in depicting the real problems of our rural folk

The original storywriter for this movie Vaidehi clicked the camera. The Director Girish Kasarvalli gave a brief introductory speech. Kota Ramachandra Aithal the winner of several awards as Cameramen and the actors in this movie Umashree, M.D Palladium, Kumari Meghana, K.G Murthy, Surabhi and Lavanya were present on the occasion.

Kundapur, Oct 15: Pratibha Karanji was held at regional-level at Amparu here recently.

Presiding over the valedictory function Raju Devadiga, president, Kundapur taluk panchayat said that such a programme was the right occasion for the school children to exhibit their talent and unique abilities in singing, dancing, mimicking, quizzing etc.

He further said that the teachers and the students are the part and parcel of the programme. Elders and others will be there to take pride in their performances and encourage them to reach greater heights of excellence and perfection.

Sujatha Vasudeva Devadiga, vice-chairperson, Udupi district panchayat was the chief guest and distributed prizes to the winners in various competitions. Ganapathi Vaidya, ex-president of SDMC of Amparu Higher Elementary School was also felicitated on the occasion. Prabhakar Mithyanth, the regional education officer in-charge welcomed the gathering. The nodal officer Dinaker Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.

Kundapur, Oct 11: The office-bearers of Kundapur Rosary Cooperative Society, for the next 30 months, were elected recently.

The society has been working in Kundapur and Byndoor regions for the past fifteen years. A J Buthello of Gujady has been re-elected as the president. Vinay Pais has unanimoulsy been elected  as vice-president.

The president A J Buthello is a social worker and is also the director of Gujjady milk producers' society.

Vinay Pais has been associated with many clubs and committees and is working as social worker, journalist and as municipality member.  He is also the parish council secretary of Kundapur Church. Vinay has also earned a good name as the president of Chakravarthi and Torpedoes cricket teams.

Henry Dias has been elected as Ex-office President of Byndoor branch.

Syprian Menezes, Director, Philip D’Costa, Rock John Cornelio, Felix D’Silva, Joseph Menezes, Nathalian D’Souza were present on the occasion. Fr Antony Lobo, Parish Priest of Kundapur Church wished the new office-bearers every success in their respective offices.

Byndoor, Oct 13: A discourse on the importance of laughing was organized by the Gangolly Rotary Club here recently. 

Dr Ranjith Kumar Shetty, the leading Gynecologist of the town, in the course of his lecture said that laughing has a soothing effect on the mind and the person will derive joy and vigor out of laughter.

A life without smile is bad for human health and it is medically proved that smiling is the best medicine for depression, he informed. A person with a smile, it has been proved by research, is no doubt a man of sincerity and a person with a smile is bound to win many friends, he added.

Smile is of several kinds, but of these a cunning smile is counter productive in that it could ruin one's health and peace of mind.
