Byndoor: Byndoor Church Honours ZP President Raju Poojary - 10/14/2007
Vinaya Pais, Kundapur for KMByndoor, Oct 13: Fr Francis Cornelio, parish priest of Byndoor Church felicitated Raju Poojary, the newly-elected president of Udupi zilla panchayat on behalf of Holy Cross Church, Byndoor, recently.
Accepting the honour Raju Poojary assured the people concerned that he will give priority towards some solving some nagging problems of Byndoor Church.
Fr Francis Cornelio presided over the function and Henry Lobo welcomed the gathering.
Shirthady William Pinto, advocate and Madan Kumar, member, zilla panchayat were chief guests for the occasion. Martin Dias, president Rotary Club, Byndoor compered the programme.

Kundapur: Proprietor of Edward Motor, Kundapaur Edward Pais passed away - 10/14/2007

Edward Pais (53), husband of Juliet, father of Jason and Jasmine, brother of Denis, Norbert, Joseph, Philomina Almeida, Judith D’Souza and Shanthi Pais, passed away on Saturday October 13, in KMC Hospital, Manipal, owing to illness.
Funeral cortege leaves residence ‘Jasmine’, BTR Road, for Holy Rosary Church, Kundapur, on Sunday October 14 at 3.45 pm. Mass at 4.15 pm.

Edward, Formerly a resident of Trasi, Edward shifted to Kundapur with his family a few years ago, as his business was located at Kundapur.
Son of Louis Pais and the late Valerin Pais, Edward originally hailed from Anagally.
He did his primary education in St Philomina Orphanage organization, Mysore.
After completing his SSLC at Mysore, Edward migrated to Poona, for a better future with an idea of “earn and learn”. He joined an automobile shop and worked hard during the day and did his PUC in a night College at Poona.
With the help of a family member, Edward left for Saudi Arabia and worked there for 10 Years. As he thought of starting business in his mother land, he came to Trasi in Kundapur and set up an automobile shop there in the year 1985, with a capital of Rs. 25,000 under the name of “Edward Motors”, a very famous landmark in Udupi district.
With a view to expanding his business, he also set up his business in Koteshwar in the year 1995, under the name of “Edward Automobile” and in 2001 a new venture was started under the name of “Edward Enterprises”. In the year 2005, he had stepped in to another business venture named as “Edward Bearing House”. And right now, a new business called “New Edward Enterprises” is on the anvil.
For the last few months, Edward was not in good health. Yet with faith in God, he never bothered about his health as he believed in work is worship. So with a thankful heart to God and always with a good word in his neighborhood, Edward continued his earthly journey to eternal life.

Gangolli: Talents day organized by Rotary Club, Gangolli - 10/11/2007
Vinaya Pais, Kundapur for KMGangolli, Oct 10: Talents day under the auspices of Rotary Club, Gangolly was recently oraganised at Gangolli for the High School students.
P.A Thomas, President Rotary Club presided over the function. Some Forty cultural competitions were held and the prizes are been distributed to the winners in various categories. Parameshwar V. Nayak, Vice-principal in charge of the High School section made the keynote address. Adinatha Kini and Narayana Nayak, conducted the competition.
Ashoka Devadiga, Teacher monitored the function. The School Pupil leader Roopin gave the vote of thanks.

Kodladi: Camp for labour at Taluk Level held at Kodladi - 10/11/2007
Vinaya Pais, Kundapur for KMKundapur, Oct 10: As a part of Gandhi Jayanthi day celebration a camp for Labour for Seven day’s was recently organized at Taluk level by the Government of India Ministry of Youth service and sports, Nehru Youth Center-Mangalore, Sardar Yuvaka Mandal and Sneha Yuvathi Mandal in Kodlady.
Bandya Subbanna Shetty, Director of South Canara Milk Assosiation, inaugurated the event. Srimathi Rathna, Chairperson of Ajri Gram Panchayath presided over the function. Gopal Shetty, Vice President of Ajri Gram Panchayath, Narayana Acharya, President of School Development Committee, Shankera Naik, Schoolteacher and Shant Kumar, Co- ordinator, Mangalore Youth Center were present on the occasion.
Prabhakara Achaya welcomed the guests. Kumari Sujatha Shetty gave the vote of thanks.

Manipal, October 10: Former Chairman and Managing Director of the public sector Syndicate Bank, Perdoor Subray Vaman Mallya(76 years), died here on Wednesday, August 9th due to cardiac arrest.
He was born on June 29th, 1932 as the second son of Vaman Sheshagiri Mallya. After getting his degrees in Commerce and law he joined the Syndicate Bank as an officer. After working hard and staying in touch with the people he reached the top post in stages and from 1986, for about 5 years he served as the Chairman abd Managing Director of Syndicate Bank, which developed under his tenure. He always said that Late T M A Pai, late T A Pai and K K Pai were the reasons for his success.
Syndiate Bank's Karkala Branch was said to be the best branch under his service. He also worked for the formation of Bhuvanendra College under the direction of late T M A Pai. He was also known for forming the Rotary Club at Karkala.
He also served as the Manager of the Bank's Ahemadabad and Baroda branches.
From 1965 to 1982 he was made the cheif of Bank's Delhi branch and he was responsible for its all round development. During this time he was also responsible for opening of new branches in North India.
For the past 5 years he was serveing as the Chairman of the Administrative Council of Sri Mahaganapati Mahamayi Temple, Shirali.
He lost his wife last month and he is survived by two daughters and son. |
