Kundpaur: Rotary Club donates Bus worth Rs. 6 lakhs to Chitanya School. - 10/10/2007
Vinaya Pais, Kundapur for KMKundapur: Rotary Foundation in association with the Rotary Club Central Chester County had recently handed over a School Bus worth Rs. Six Lakh on behalf of Rotary Kundapura South Chaitanya School, Kundapur.
The Bus has been handed over to Shobha Soans President & Sujatha Nakkattya, Secretary of Chaitanya School Committee in a ceremony recently. S. Sadananda and Vasantha Prabhu of Rotary Club Central Chester Country made the munificent donation. T.R Hatwar, Rtn. K. Shantaram Prabhu - Industrialists, S. Vijay Shetty, Jayakara Shetty & Dr. Umesh Puthran were present on the occasion.

Kundapur: Gandhiji Pic Drawing Competition at Taluk-Level Held - 10/10/2007
Vinaya Pais, Kundapur for KMKundapur, Oct 10: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, drawing competition at Taluk level was organized under the aegis of Bharat Seva Dal of Kundapur taluk committee in association with the Siddapur Rotary club in Kundapur regional resource center here recently.
The competition was held on drawing Gandhi’s picture.
Purushotham Bhat, president, Siddapur Rotary club presided over the function. Prabhakar Mithyanth, regional resource center official distributed the prizes.
Padmanabha Aithal, president, elect Rotary club, Manjunath Sheregar, secretary, Bharat Seva Dal, Rajiv Shetty, Basruru were the chief guest.
YS Haragi, headmaster, Voderhobli School and others was present on the occasion. U Chandra Shaker Holla, president, Kundapur Bharat Seva Dal presented the keynote address.

Kallianpur: Golden Jubilee of First Satellite launch celebrated in Milagrese College, Kallainapur - 10/7/2007
Dr. Gerald Pinto for KMKallianpur, Oct 7: First satellite sputnik in this earth was launched on 4th Oct 1957 by Russia. Today’s all information Technological advancement is possible because of Satellites. This Golden Jubilee celebration of the First Satellite launching was held at Milagres College Kallianpur by in association with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Association of Physics Teachers of Mangalore University and Milagres College Kallianpur 7th Oct at Silver Jubilee Hall.
The Principal Fr Fred Mascarenhas Presided over the function. Aravind Kumar the Asst. Project Director of ISRO was the main speaker. He explained the various steps of India’s Space programme which began in 21.11.1963 by launching a Rocket from Tumba of Kerala. He said today India is in a position to build its own satellites, launching vehicles and ever many countries are make use of Indian satellites. Next year India will send a satellite to moon which is called Chandra Yana and by 2025 India will catch up with America by launching space vehicles like shuttle. There was video show on the Indian space programme and models of Satellites and charts were displayed by ISRO.
Teachers and students from various Schools, P.U College and Degree Colleges from Udupi Taluk participated. Deepa welcomed the gathering. Shailesh Proposed the vote of Thanks and Loileeta compared the programmed.
Dr Gerald Pinto the H.O.D of Physics Dept, Sadhashiva Alse P.U. College Principal, and Archana Dabade the Physics Lecture, Sadhashivan from ISRO were present on the dais.

Mangalore: Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy award to Olivera Flavia (Carol Marits), Trasi. - 10/7/2007

Mangalore: Olivera Flavia (Carol Martis) of Trasi has won the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award for her recently released collection of her own poetries “Sukha Dukhamchi Panaam, Pun Mogachim”. This award has been announced by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy recently. She has won this award in the “Budding Poetess” Category.
Carol Martis is the secretary of Kandapur Varado Welfare association, Kuwait. Also she is an active member of Konkani community in Kuwait. Her poems are been published in several Konkani websites as well as in Konkani Magazines.

Kundapur: 10% Divident declared by Rosary Credit Cooperative Society - 10/7/2007
Vinaya Pais, Kundapur for KMKundapur, Oct 7: The Rosary Credit Cooperative Society held its annual general meeting in the earlier week in “Kala Mandir” of Government Junior College, Kundapur.
The Society had declared a dividend of 10% to its members in accordance with the byelaws of the society. The meeting was presided over by A G Botelho. In his presidential speech, he announced that the society would shift its office to its new office next year.
Secretary Pascal D’Souza read out the proceedings of the past general body meeting. Legal advisers sharath Kumar Shetty, and Isidore D’Souza were present during the meeting.
Shetty, in his speech, expressed his confidence that the society would undoubtedly be on the path of progress and great success as one of the best co-operative societies of the district.
Kundapur parish priest Fr Antony Lobo, invoking blessings, said that the real assets of any Society were its members and that a tree must not merely a strong trunk but also several roots to feed the tree with water and minerals. Hence the Rosary Co-Operative Society would in future open several branches in the district.
